Oriental Pork Chop
This is a Chinese style pork chop which I adapted from Hawkers’ Fair Simplified. This is one of my family’s favourite dinner dishes. The name is called pork chop but I found it tastes even better with pork loin, the meat is tenderer and juicier. If using pork loin I usually omit soda bicarbonate as tenderizer.
To keep the pork chop crisped, pork chop can be deep fried first and only have the source poured on it when serving.

Is this a Malaysian's Chinese dish? My mother-in-law always cook this pork chop when she visits us. I can never cook as good as her. Maybe I can now with your recipe and step-by-step guide. Thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteVeronica:
ReplyDeleteYup, I think so because you can easily found this dish at any Malaysia's local Chinese restaurant.
I do hope you give it a try and maybe next time you can surprise your MIL in return with this delcious dish! :-)
Happy cooking!
The pork chops look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteDear Yin,
ReplyDeleteAnother excellent recipe - thanks! (I previously commented on your kuih talam page.) Didn't make the sauce here but will try soon. Had to use what was on hand (tomato paste, BBQ sauce, plum sauce) and it came out like Peking Pork Chops.
LOVE the addition of custard powder to the meat marinade. Gives a GREAT golden look to the chops!
So glad to have found your recipe pages. I think you're an outstanding cook. Thanks!!
